@remko
It would be very nice to be able to create our own libraries.
I have discovered if I add folders under
user\Lumion 2\Library\
ex.
user\Lumion 2\Library\cars\
then 'Cars' shows up as a TAB under import library.
But the TAB keeps being empty, even if I copy objects from the default folder to this folder.
Is it a bug, missing feature or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
There are several things we can improve on that area like adding your own materials and adding models to the object library. I was thinking we should work towards a system which imports models into your project by default and give you the ability to store them permanently into a library. This way you always have a complete project with all models and you can even have several versions of a model by saving a project multiple times. One huge drawback though is that currently saving projects takes up little space and takes very little time. If we include the models the project files get bigger and take more time to save.
Maybe a combination between the current method and a new one would help.
1. You can save a project and it will pack all the models with the project for you.
2. You can save an extra version of a project and it will save the project file but the model files will be saved between versions.
3. You can tell an imported object to move to the permanent library so you can use it in other projects.
Maybe #2 is not needed because saving does not take that long anyways and you can always delete older versions of a project if you need more space. Nearly all programs save projects this way so why shouldn't we?
