"Can't run Lumion more than once" Error

Just downloaded the demo version to try things out. It opened fine the first time but when I closed the application and try to reopen I get the error "Can't run Lumion more than once"
What do I need to do to open the demo back up. I confirmed it is not running in the background.

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for trying the Demo.  :)

I have to say it's the first time I have heard of the Demo not being able to run again after closing down.  Especially if Windows Task Manager does not have it listed as still active.  ???

1. What version of Windows are you using?

2. What happens if you reboot the PC and then try running the Demo?

3. Can you give us some specs of the PC.  Easiest way is to attach to a post the txt file from the DirectX report DXDiag:  click Windows Start -> Run -> type in DXDiag -> DirectX will analyse the system and you can then save the report "Save All Informaiton" button to file.

Thanks for the quick reply! We are using Windows 10 on a Mac via parallels. It is running Parallels 11 and OS X El Capitan. I tried restarting the machine and same issue. Here is the Directx info below.

Unfortunately you need Bootcamp to run Lumion on a Mac with Windows.  Please refer web site FAQ.

Do you have another Mac that can be installed with Bootcamp, or Windows based PC that you can use for testing Lumion?

Oh that is unfortunate, any plans to incorporate parallels support in the future. Currently that is the only option that is used in our office.

Sorry but we're unable to indicate about what might or might not be available in future versions.   :(

Is it possible to also include Bootcamp/Windows as another bootable OS on the Mac there?

Bootcamp (AFAIK) is to date the only one that correctly supports not only Windows but DirectX versions that Lumion requires.

Perhaps at some stage the developers could re-visit and see if Parallels is or can be used, but from your informal try, it's clearly not workable.

Please note you also need a suitable dedicated graphics card, and I was unable to determine that form the DirectX information you provided.

Hello VanWert Design,

I was also experiencing this problem, all I did was to exit from "Coherent Mode" in parallels, by clicking on the Parallels icon on the task bar of the Mac OSX in the top of the screen, then click on "View", and finally "Exit Coherence"

After doing this you can just look for the Task Manager Application in WINDOWS

look for any Lumion Activity and close all of them.

You should be able to open Lumion without any problem now.


An easier way of doing this is to just simply look for the "Task Manager" app of Windows in the Spotlight Search in Mac OSX (while in coherence) and also End/Close any Lumion Activity

Thanks for the pointer in clearing Lumion from Parallels (and Windows Task Manager  :)).

In normal circumstances Lumion should close down without need to force closing it as a still running application using Task Manager.

As mentioned previously, Bootcamp is the only Windows on Mac OSX that we are aware of that may run Lumion OK.  Please refer our FAQ on support for Mac OSX Can you install Lumion on a Mac?.
