UND Campus WIP

I had built a Google Earth model of the campus of the University of North Dakota, and brought it into Lumion and added trees and ran a quick test.   The building that the movie ends on will be the focus of a new movie I am working on over the next few weeks.   Still amazes me how nicely Lumion handles such large scenes with ease.   I will re post as the project progresses.

Very nice and yes I agree its impressive how much data Lumion can take in I havent managed to get it to slowdown yet in the build environment.  I know it slows on render (with a big scene) but in the real time its still quick and I am not even using a high end machine.

Hi Chewbacca

Thanks guys.  The only thing that seemed to start slowing down the scene in build mode was the huge map I had on the ground plane.  It is a high res aireal photo, and seemed cause a few issues so I had to down the pixels to about 5000 x5000.  This could just be that my grahics card is choking on the large map.

I can not believe in my eyes. How big is your file. How many model (buildings) you put in there and how much ram your vcard needs for running this scene? OMG

Hey 9Fly, All the buildings in the scene are low poly models with image maps on the faces.  The model was built for Google earth and can be found if you search Grand Forks ND, USA and find the university.  The building at the end of the movie is a model from Revit, brought in via 3ds max converted to a DAE file.  The the base is large aireal photo.  With all the trees and plants I am starting to add the file is starting to slow my video Card down a bit.  I am running a 285M GTX 1g of ram on a laptop.  I have recently been having my card stop responding and getting errors that say I am out of graphics memory, or my video driver has stopped responding.  I think I may need to upgrade my card or machine.  The scene file is about 17 mb.  I hope to produce a good movie within the next few weeks for this project, as long as my video card can hang with the file size.
thanks.
