Some great results here, any way to save out the settings and share as presets? if not, there really should be.

Excellent suggestion Pete. Would you mind throwing it into the Wishlist section of the forum?
Pretty sure something equivalent has already been proposed at least once but alas,
things do tend to get lost in the clutter from time to time.
Sharing presets via a online depository for instance would be golden!

Being able to save some environmental settings once you find sweet spots is needed too.

Beautiful renders considering that they are generated in realtime and you can do infinite variations.

I suggest to you a plugin called HDR Efex Pro, it changes the look of 3d renders very well.

Regarding Lumion Vs Vray probably you don't know this video...;)

Just playing around!!!
HDR does makes a difference, I agree with you gabrielefx!!  See example

Lol guys. This thread can't meant be for sure. Post this on the Vray forums and you will get the right response. The tech isn't even comparable. It looks nice. but Lumion doesn't even look as realistic as some game-engines out there.

All the great Vray works you see have been worked over heavily in post processing, usually photoshop or after effects.  A little post process can go a long way with a lumion render as well.

Of course  :D I think one should take all of the Vray-looks comments with a mild smile.
We could also state it doesn't even hold a candle to Vray. Yet Vray also doesn't
hold a candle to Lumion on some accounts already! I reckon both are true.
Everyone here knows it but it's just nice to toy with the idea from time to time.
Perhaps one day we will see photoreal renderings become a reality on the GPU in Realtime.
I bet we will. Perhaps one day Lumion will have the light quality of the UDK without the need
for a baking session of 24hours, then finding out you forgot to set a flag somewhere, and do it allover again. You got to admit though, for a DX9-only engine, without GI, the results Lumion can produce
are getting better and better! Keep in mind this is Lumion at .6 years old. Now imagine Lumion
celebrating its 1st birthday ;-)

I agree with Michael, Vray and Lumion renderings are not comparable, but for someone like me that do not have any training in 3dmax/vray, I feel that Lumion is amazing and the rendering results are acceptable for Architectural presentations. Also the time saver is another issue in the architectural world .... learning curve and deadlines. What you could do in in seconds( rendering time) in Lumion , it will take you hours or even days with other softwares. That is huge in the Architectural world.

Like Earthmover said, just a little bit more of post processing and the render improves its final quality. I use the metal ray render engine that comes with revit and I think Lumion  renderings  looks 10 times better, except for interiors stills.

A consultation, generally prefer the first image that has upload Earth or the second?
Lumion certainly come as the image is PP, I performed these contrasts and effects to make it like the image above.
I wonder commented 2 people with some post-production can be improved by referring to the PP image.
Is that I'm screwing with the retouching?
You prefer the one below?

Without underestimating your work Earth

I think it's not a good way trying to match a CG rendering. But mathcing a photo reference is a better approach.

If you try to match a CG you try to match a copy with a copy with a copy leading to less reality everytime you try to match it. I've read an interesting article about this but can't find it anymore.

If you watch the making of video you'll see how little is actually done by vray. The input vray image is not really that special but this guy has some serious skills in aftereffects. It's amazing to see what he can create from so little. I think it's his skill shining in the images and not so much vray. I dont think lumion even comes close to vray to be honest but for now but it's a great alternative. Our goal is not to approach vray or reality for that matter, we just want images that 'work'. Sometimes a realistic image can do the job and sometimes an artistic approach works. I think we can expand in both the realistic end of the spectrum as the creative end of the spectrum.

Aftereffects - thanks for this insight Remko - helpful indeed.
