Thanks. They're from www.formfonts.com, a site where you pay around US$200 a year for access to tons of SketchUp objects. Unfortunately I can't share them as it would be against the license terms.

Yeah... they look too fake. I would like to use characters from www.got3d.com, but they don't import well to either SketchUp or Lumion.

I went to got3d..some pretty nice 2d.
The 3D people, if you look close, are all from the same family...shouldn't there be a law against that..lol

2D people can look really nice in still images... But when used in animations:

-Can't convincingly sit on chairs
-They look flat and static when the camera passes near them.

An ideal solution would be:

-Lumion team-generated animated seated people. Just use standard 45cm seating height. You can rotate/scale as needed for slightly non-standard chairs.

-Lumion accepting greenscreen video as textures, and then allow you to chroma-key the background out of it. This way you could shoot footage of people against a green screen and seamlessly incorporate them in your animation. Even a cheap video editor like Corel Video Studio Pro can do this, but of course it would be a lot simpler to do it in Lumion.

I think that is at least a stop-gap. Seems difficult without a big investment to get real 3D animated people. I bet that 3Dmax must have suppliers of ultra-high quality 3D people.
In the meantime the greenscreen approach is still very realistic with the right tools.
If lumion could facilitate this somehow it would add another feather to the already lofty little birds wings.

Check out this animation (not mine). Very good use of green screen, which greatly helps to overcome the ugly river water.

All I can say is that is what I need. The modeling and the finnishing could be much better with lumion but that was perfect.
There was one actual 3d person in the early part....the girl. At least her walking dynamics were correct.
I am getting spoiled. The people thing throws me off. No matter what tool or subject, as soon as a 3d shows up it spoils everything.

The Lumion guys have pushed the tone mapping and general none people entourage to the point that the people just spill the beans. If you can create a style that works with them, and I have seen it, you are really good.

The approach you have describe is still pretty much a standard in the small broadcasting industry. If Lumion had a Green Screen feature it would draw a new audience.
