Heres a short movie of the virtual reconstruction of the Palace Square at Wolfenbüttel (Germany) around 1740.

Modeled and published in 2007 for an exhibition in the palace museum of Wolfenbüttel in 2007, re-rendered with Lumion for testing and practice the movie-tools in 2011.
About 90% of the buildings are based on old-fashioned research in the city- and state-archives. We used old cityplans, copperplates and paintings for the reconstruction of geometry, colours and materials. Additionally some modern analysises of the existing buildings found out their original colours.

Nearly 60% of the buildings still exist. But important buildings like the big tower and the houses near the palace, the gate and the library at the end of the movie are gone. The public space did change completely for the purpose of motorized traffic. In 1740 there was a hippodrome.

Hi Frank

great work!!

One advice, as Grabiele said, use the same tips you use in photography to your rendering (deph of field, brighting, contrast, expose....) you will obtain better results.

congratulation

Thanks a lot for critics and details. I´ll soon render it again, but i´m a little stressed in work by now.

@mischa:
Yeah, princesses or even people in contemporary clothes would be fine....

OK, lunch-hour is over  :-\.
