My World Heritage site

These buildings are part of a late Roman / early Christian cemetery in my home town. Since 2000, they are part of the World Heritage, too. I worked as an archaeologist on many of its excavations and now reconstructing the buildings.

The first image shows the latest find (on the right) and the second shows the whole site with buildings that can now be visited already modelled. This one was also made as a big poster to print and cut up as a puzzle for kids who go to those educational events to the exhibition.

Here is a video, too. Not a final "gallery" stuff of course but I could not resist rendering one. from the video description: "Note that this is just a preliminary concept - the buildings are not modelled in all their details and also the environment is only built up to demonstrate the closest proximity of the site. There will be an extremely lot of work to fully finish this project - but at least it's started now".

Thanks. As I wrote above, it needs a lot of work but now I am optimistic. Actually, I had that building at the end of the video mostly ready but I modelled everything else plus set it up in Lumion and rendered the poster during one, single night (just the client should not know it) :)

Since these things are also "my babies", I really enjoy working on them.

I have a small freelancing business here in Hungary and it has a website (in Hungarian). These are the 3D reconstructions I have made (and can be public) so far:
http://www.sketchucation.hu/3d-rekonstrukcio/
(At the bottom, "« Régebbi cikkek" means "« Older entries")

Some do not look too old: they are Bauhaus buildings I made for a TV Program about an exhibition here in my home town last year: http://bauhaus.jpm.hu/

(For some reason, the English pages have never been translated but if you know German, they are live).

There is one (WIP) project I have not put up on my site yet but already has something on the web already: a video about the Roman Limes in my country (this is planned to become part of the World Heritage, too)

Thanks Loft. :)

Byzantium: my biggest pain and sorrow is the complete lack of animated characters from Ancient/Medieval times. I would definitely pay for a Roman pack and such. Also horse carts, moving horses (not just stand still grazing) and things like that.

Maybe the upcoming animation pack will allow the import of such content - but then I still have to get them made by somebody :)

Well, this is a big river. I had to do something. Many of the plants are actually floating a bit - I will still need to place them on the ground. Unfortunately "randomizing" their location won't work as it would then put them into the river bed as well :)

I know exactly how you feel. This spring a producer insisted on doing a crowd animation. I had to create a library of roman & byzantine characters.

In fact I am currently trying to compose them into Lumion renders.
