Dear All,

Here would like to share with you a video of the Lumion Special effect plugin. So, you should have a rough idea about it before making your purchase. The first video will be about the smoke effect from the plugin. The fire and dust video will come later. Hope they are any useful to you. ;)

Nice effort John!
Also curious to read comments from users on what they think about the new particles! Good/Not so good etc.

Thanks Aaron. I do think the particle effect is cool, but I reckon they can be cooler and user should have more freedom to customise them to suit their needs. The smoke, fire and dust effect is great and they are quite realistic, but again lack of user controllability. I know you can adjust the size and orientation of the particular in Lumion and that's about it. I just wish there is a control for particle speed, density, volume or even ejection angles.

I am not so sure about the water particle effect though, they are a bit on the weak side in comparison to fire smoke and dust,no offence, some of them look a bit like a sheet of chopped flat noodles falling down in mid air if that an appropriate descriptions. They don't really response to the lighting and also they are not dynamic enough. Water should bounce back when they come in contact with the ground intead of cutting through. Those little details I think can make a huge difference.

Maybe I just havent enough time or clever enough to explore the hidden power of those water particles. Overall it's a great attempt and success but still too gimicky and not flexible enough. That's my view about them, Aaron.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review John!
I'm in complete agreement.

-The water particles are imho also the weakest of the 4 emitter types currently on offer (even though I realize bouncing back is too much too ask and can even be simulated by having another emitter).
Doesnt look like water halve the time. Way too much foam and foam looks even worse.

-Fire could do with a more turbulent variation.

-Fog is too limit in that it's for very small areas only so you need a ton of emitters when you want to go big. It also doesnt work on highest-area settings since it looks quite bad then due to single particles becoming to visible. Ie, could do with a larger version with more particles.
Currently I now use Smoke for larger fog areas btw. Works faster and looks better  :D

Overall I think this initial version is pretty impressive but when compared to other particle systems (Fork, Unreal to name but a few) who are 'just' using sub-UV sheets, it could use improvements.
I think it would be a great pity if it wasnt developed beyond this phase. Feels like it could and should :-)

The colors are fun.

I can see them coming out of some wonky machine making candy!

or

I can see the red smoke being used as a drop zone in the jungle as small aircraft drop supplies to the freedom fighters.
