Hello All,
It is in our nature to try to please our users. If you listen to all requests stuff eventually breaks down. We did the same with Quest3D and ended up with a program that did way to much in a way to hard method.
We plan not to make this mistake again. So now I only need to scare of Morten with all feature requests he reads and try to not read to many myself.
Let me list some requests that I do get:
Add that sunlight changes color if it hits a colored window. (hard to create)
Change the static shadow map resolution to 2048. (most users will run out of memory)
Change the sunlight shadow map to 8192. (needs 1.6 GB of memory on a mac and hardly any quality gain)
Include VRAY as a render option. (no fast render anymore)
Work on radiosity (when we do it is Lumion style which is still fast render)
We believe our easy of use and speed of render and our content are our strongest points. This also means that these will be the areas we want to focus most attention on. You must understand that pressure from many many sides tries to steer us away from this goal. Also while developing Lumion that has been a great struggle.
The main reason most software tools are so horrible to use is that they are created and thought of by hardcore developers.
Luckily we have a few people that understand or where slowly converted into people that do know what is actually important.
So what you can expect from us is of course still progress in quality of final output. But our main goals are even easier use and keep the rendering fast.
I am now for example in the progress of removing the advanced interface button from the settings menu since it is confusing. We want to avoid stuff like that and come up with a better solution to tackle the same problem.
Feedback on things that are hard interface wise in Lumion are of course welcome.
Have fun using Lumion we are having fun creating it for you all
