Here is our concept for a lake side cabin in central Idaho.

The residence was created in ArchiCAD by the Architect and exported to SketchUp.  I added all the textures then created the patio, dock and other landscape elements in SketchUp.

I spent around a 1/2 day creating the landscape and animation in Lumion 5.3

My computer specs are:
Windows 8.1 Pro
Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti

Great work Chuck!
I'm impressed by the time spend, 1/2 day (4-5 hours?), that's including all pre-work done in sketchup and creating the Lumion scene with animation and all effects?
You must have one hell of an hourly rate generated from this project.

Love the landscaping!

Lars,

thanks for the props... it was around a 1/2 day just in Lumion... but a heck of a lot longer in SketchUp.. I had well over 2 full days in adding textures (the Archicad model had no textures), creating the patios and stairs, walls... changes from the owner....all that fun stuff...

Thanks,

Ah, I understand now, I was worried my workflow had issues.
Yes first you have to do the tedious 3d-work and then just when you're having fun in Lumion it's allready done! ;)

Lars - I wish I was that fast! I am as slow as molasses - but Lumion makes up for it  :)

Lumion has open new doors for me - Because of this aw some software, I 2 more lake front client sign up and I am in talks with a client for a Hawaii project.... If I could only include a site visit :)

Thanks,

Chuck

Very nice!
I wish I had Lumion 5 with the reflective water!  :-P

How did you do the lights turn on? Skydrop effect, or in post?

rakela and cadmunkey, thanks for the props!

Michiel - the reflective water does rock, but Lumion 5 has many more features like the lights have night activation!! They can be set to be turned on all at once or random. I typically use random - giving the viewer the illusion of someone running around frantically turning on a bunch of light switches :)

Thanks,

Thanks!
I was looking for a random option for the lights to turn on. Good to hear this is intregated now! ;)
I am afraid my company has to skip L5, and go straight for L6.0

Hi Michiel Bluewater

Are you using V4.5.1?

If so, then I have some good news for you on that feature  ;)  :) then.  Night Activation was an enhancement introduced in v4.5 +  Refer: Release Notes, and see LUMION 4: Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts.

Are you using V4.5.1?

 :P Yes, I am.
I saw this option available when I added a lot of lights to my scene.
However, never realized this was exactly what I was looking for  :'(
I had a huge deadline.

Anyway, this is THE feature I was been hoping on. Thanks Peter!;)

Hi Chuck. That's a great movie. I love the scene over the lake to the distant trees. Truly photographic!
