Is a Middle and High School Project. We only use Revit 2012 so just used the exporter Lumion provided and works pretty well.  Had problems with the Sky cause once I played with it was no Reset button to get back to the default settings and did not want to redo all materials cause I was playing toooooo much with sky.  Hope this works and I have 3 more projects I will be doing like this so and feed back would be great for the next few projects!

So in using Revit and Lumion exporter, were you able to export the textures such as the brick for the building walls, or did you apply Lumion textures or Lumion Standard Materials?

There's no way playing with the settings for the sky affects your materials.

Even though there's no reset, if you (after saving) go to a New scene in Lumion and write down the default settings, you can quickly and easily re-apply those to the sky of your scene.

I had to reapply all materials.  Some I already have spec so I made my own from images I have or texture websites that have nice textures.

I was playing with snow and rain and all the other weather sliders to make it look like thunder storms and screwed myself by playing in the real file.

Thanks

hi billy... nice work!!! I use revit a lot ... how was your experience working with the new plug in workflow Revit - Lumion?? does it take to long to transfer from revit to lumion? any loss in materials? any extra or special steps??

Thanks in advanced for your response, and again great job, congratulations. one critique, i like the close up camera than the overall aerial look, the aerial look lacks detail, but once you are close to the building the scene looks complete. Overall really impressive!!!!

Thanks!  Revit export plugin was unusable till about a month ago it took just over 9hr. to export so I broke up the models into 2 and turn off all light fixtures, furniture, anything on the interior but walls, doors & floors and it helped but now doing all that with new plugin retooled it takes about 15min. per exported model.  In Revit you need EVERYTHING to be a material so you can change it in Lumion to the right material DO NOT leave it to Default or By Category or Half your Lumion Model will be one material!  Material Material Material in Revit make sure anything that you may want to be a different material in Lumion you NEED it to be a different material in REVIT as well.

The aerial was a request by owners so that people can see the whole site but I asked Lumion guys if where was a way to add a image over a huge site like google maps so we can see existing houses near by and give people something to reference but I've found that only if my site was flat I could do that and my site is not close to being flat.  Agree I like the closer camera angles but hope Lumion will find a way to let a huge image like google earth, or google maps and apply it to the surface of the site! The workflow will only get better but it is time consuming and eats up alot of my day so I end up working 70 and 80hr. weeks till weee hours in the morning.

why dont you try importing your model into Google Sketchup and project the site plan onto your terrain?  That should work really nicely for you.

I do not have Sketchup Pro we only have 1 design that have it on his computer and I don't really like using all these programs just to do one simple task.  My mind is fried as it is, pretty soon I will have to dump my childhood memories to make room for more software knowledge!
