Conquest / Deugro Offshore Wind Installation Concept

My engineering firm is specialized offshore wind energy and oil&gas. Normally we only give the client, drawings, report and of course steel. But this time a client asked us if we could visualize the concept design we made:

I worked with Lumion (university) before and got my draftsman colleagues enthusiastic, so we bought the Pro license.
Modeling has been done in Inventor and Autocad, animations mainly in 3D max exported to FBX. Simple animations were done in Lumion itself. Working with FBX was a pain in the ass in Lumion (please add some play-pause, speed, starting pioint support in Lumion6)

I think it took one person roughly a week to come up with these movies (3D files were already there). Although we have Quadro K5200 cards 32GB RAM and latest i& CPU's, rendering took a while (3 hours if im correct), but nothing compared to 3DMax Vray.

In the end the client was really happy and we were really happy with the workflow. Since this project we use Lumion often for nice concept en presentation pictures. I'd love to show you more but most of it is not allowed to be made public.

Hi tmotion

Thanks for submitting your project to Finished Projects.

Please post feedback and suggestions to the Feedback& Ideas Board to register your interest.

Three hours for over 3minutes of video at 1080p is good.  :)
