I finished the latest city visualization project three weeks ago. It is a renovation of an urban environment split into several stages. The first stage was the transformation of a train station area and started even back in spring 2011 and went through several milestones until now.
All in all Pure3d Visualizations delivered four milestones with changes, several movies and a minimum of 40+ renderings for the presentations held by our french partner from HiTechsPro.
Real-Time tech - we used Lumion3D and Leadwerks Engine - was used for playing with design ideas during meetings mainly and impress people with the possibility to walk around and push buildings around. Its also nice to get good visual output if needed and incorporate changes without the need to render all again.
For this design evaluation the very first step was to rebuild the current area on a 1,7km x 2,2km space, photograph most visible buildings and recognizeable spots and turn it into 3D.
The station area got polish very well by the architect and landscape department. There is a huge amout of vegetation and all had to be placed by hand (thats why I bug all people here to vote for vegetation painting feature). Replacing large amounts of vegetation is tedious if you have to redo it with several design stages over and over again. The first version of Lumions vegetation assets also didn't met the requirements of the landscaping department and it was hard to find a solution which made all people happy.
People found Lumion to be too flashy and gloomy with fantasy like looking trees. But it got significant better with latest versions. Tools and also artists get better.

Now I'm happy that I finished this project after such a long time and its nice to be able to share the latest version with a small video (sorry no sound because it just played and people talked beside playback).
