I've just prepared a model and a few renders of a new beach house in my local town.
The background view is just a billboard, but it is very effective. It's also my first time using the 'curtain' material.

Modelling software: Sketchup Pro.
Computer: CPU i7 - 4790 3.6 GHz,16 GB RAM.
Graphics: Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti, 6 GB.

Hi Peter

I think Derek is probably referring to using a plane, cylinder or sphere with image as a background.  Here's some techniques:
1. Guide on custom 360 Panoramic backgrounds
2. Custom backgrounds in Lumion
3. photo with landscape behind windows
4. Integration betwen Background Image and Landscape

And, our Knowledge Base Article: How do you replace the sky with a photo?

Hi Peter, Actually looking back at my model I just used a cut out image as a background in this model. Sorry for providing the wrong information.(billboard is when the cut out faces the camera). I sometimes use these as well. In this case I just used 'standard' material. Step 1. Cut out an image in Photoshop with a transparent background. Step 2. Import that image as a material into Sketchup and save as a new model. Step 3. Import that into Lumion as a separate model. You'll need to play around with scale, distance etc in Lumion to achieve a realistic scene. I hope this helps.
