A short film about the beauty, and cruelty, of the Arabian Desert.

Wow, very nice, story line and everything.  Well done.

He should have carried a bottle of water with him  :-D then he might have reached the oasis.  |:(  |:(

I noticed the God Rays about mid way through just prior the oasis scene part with horse, it's a Lumion thing I think or increase decay value but there are GR's are coming from the horizon where there's no cloud, towards the viewer and I just dont think that would occur as the angle is too obtuse given positon of the sun.  Not sure about the ducks, but hey.

Music fits in really well.

Hey Peter, you got it!  Nice to know I pretty much hit the target as far as the story line is concerned.  I also appreciate the acute observations too.  Yes, the ducks are a bit questionable - but I had to use something animated in the Lumion animal inventory (BTW, also no camels!).

Note:  It was done in haste and certainly could do with some fine tuning!  You certainly did not miss a thing!

Much of the short story comes from my sub-conscious.  In 2008, I worked as a senior urban planner about 1.5 hours drive from here, in Dubai, (I now live in Abu Dhabi).  I took an innocent lunch break walk in the middle of summer, and found myself almost dying from sun stroke due to lack of shelter - vacant commercial buildings and unbearable, torturous heat!  The Arabian Oasis (incl. the cities) is a metaphor of a beautiful and safe place, but deadly (the desert) for those who unwittingly, venture beyond it.

Many thanks for your detailed reply.

Unfortuntely with Lumion Basic edition I cannot do this other than increase the fog density.

Thanks Lofts,

The ability to do the sandstorm, would have added greatly.  In the meantime, I work with the minimal of tools, but propose to acquire more Plugins in due course.

Hi Peter - again,

I got a chance to review your comments, and view my renders again last night.

Your absolutely right about the GR's and the end/beginning fo the horizon.  I'm going to leave it here and put it down to artist licence, but will certainly address this on the next film I do, that has the same design relevancy.

Many thanks,
