Hi Dave, welcome.

There is no answer to that question. :)

It depends on:

- The total number of 3D points in the SketchUp model.
- The total number of different textures and their resolutions in the SketchUp model.
- What else is already present in the Lumion scene that the model is being imported in.
- The amount of available graphics card memory, system memory and virtual memory on the PC.

Are you having trouble importing a SketchUp file in Lumion?

If so, please click here and follow the instructions to provide us with the requested information.

Please also follow step 5 in the article to upload the original model file (.SKP format), so we can take a look.

Thanks in advance.

Well there are too many of something because it crashes lumion. Sketchup file is 100 megs. Could I convert the sketchup file into something else that lumion imports better with?

Sorry to hear that.

Getting a crash while importing an SKP model is not a known error, and the SketchUp file format (SKP) is actually one of the best formats for model imports in Lumion, and you shouldn't have to convert it to a different format. A file size of 100MB unfortunately doesn't tell us much about the actual complexity of the full SketchUp scene as you can add 1000 duplicates of a very complex model and SketchUp then only stores the duplicate models as a model identifier, and position, rotation and scale in the file. A 100MB SketchUp file could also consists of a simple box with a very high-resolution textures.

So, to get the ball rolling, I'd be grateful if you could please follow the instructions in my previous email, so that we can take a closer look.

I assume that you already installed the latest graphics card driver as well as all available Windows updates?

If so, please follow these instructions so that we can verify that your PC meets the requirements for running Lumion:
