IntroductionThe patch below is only for Lumion 7.5 and 8.0.
Do not install it if you use a different version.
Do not install it if you use 8.3 or 8.5.We have always strived to provide architects with the most reliable and innovative rendering tools. With Lumion's OpenStreetMap (OSM), it became possible to instantly surround a project with context. OSM was also a beta feature still in development and it used a third-party service to import accurate map and building height data.
The third-party service has announced they are closing down, and on February 1st, Lumion will no longer be able to download the map and building height data.
In light of this news, we developed a mighty little tool called the "OSM Patch" to ensure continued map functionality. We will send you an email with detailed instructions on how to install the patch once it is ready. Lumion 8 users can expect their OSM patch next week.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. In this guide, we hope to resolve any questions and/or concerns you may have. If you don’t find an adequate response here, we invite you to contact the Lumion Support Center for help. (Don’t know how to get support?

Here is a summary of the crucial bits of information you should know regarding OSM and Lumion:
- Why Lumion's OSM is undergoing this change
- How you can get continued OSM functionality with the upcoming "OSM Patch" and the next Lumion update
Why Lumion's OSM is undergoing this changeAs a beta feature still in development, Lumion’s OSM was dependent on a the third-party service to import accurate map and building height data.
On February 1st, this third-party service will be closing its doors. This also means that Lumion will no longer be able to download the map and building data.
This is only a temporary issue, and through the OSM Patch and a Hot Fix (detailed below), you can enjoy continued map and building height data for your projects.
How you can get continued OSM functionality with the upcoming "OSM Patch" and the next Lumion updateWith the OSM Patch and the next Lumion update, we are migrating to a new OSM mapping service. This new mapping service comes with a few limitations compared to the old one, but there is a good chance that you won’t experience any differences.
What do we mean by this? For example, see the spire of this building in New York City?
At the moment, the new mapping service may not be able to include some spires, domes, and other intricate architectural details of skyscrapers in major cities.
We repeat: this change will mostly be noticeable in major cities. If you're importing map data from Madison, Wisconsin, for example, you may not notice any differences.
Here's how you can start using the new OSM service when it is available.
Option #A: The OSM PatchFrom February 1st until the next Lumion update, OSM will not work unless you connect it to the new mapping service. You can do this by downloading and installing the “OSM Patch."
The OSM Patch will be available for download on the Lumion Support Center in the coming weeks. We will send users an email and include a guide on the forum regarding how to download and install the OSM Patch for your Lumion version.
Option #B: The Next Lumion UpdateThe OSM Patch will be built into the next Lumion update, a free upgrade for Lumion 8 users.
If you are using a previous version of Lumion that included the OSM beta feature, you can still download and install the OSM Patch for your version it is available.
